I have been interested in cars since I was eight years old. Since then I have built over 74 custom cars — every one from start to show. I have always looked at each of my builds as my first born.
As the years go on, there are so many new ideas and choices. I soak them all up, and then add my touch.
I won my first car show before I was 18. I opened my first body shop at 21. After many years, I figured out it is better to have your own shop — upholstery, fabrication, engine shop — all to yourself, and no customers. Mostly, it worked out well. I had my own space to build whatever I could design. Before, I had plenty of designs but had to get the customers’ cars out first. Now it is just my cars, 24/7 — and you can put out far more cars that way.
I have owned over 280 cars, and had 160 in my collection at one time. I have built a few world-class cars. I am very particular about my builds. When you are a large manufacturer and own your own fabrication factory, you have very little limits — that is the best way to build top cars.
I will build very few cars these days. I have done it for over 51 years. Time to watch the new guys on the block build their dreams. I have been to auctions in over 34 countries buying rare cars. I might build a production car in the next few years.
